With millions of people visiting Las Vegas each year, it’s safe to say that Vegas is one of the most popular vacation destinations worldwide. With the Las Vegas Raiders now part of the sports scene, it should be no surprise that 42 million people traveled to Las Vegas in 2019 alone.

The most visited area of Las Vegas is the Strip or Las Vegas Boulevard. From the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign to The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Skypod, the Las Vegas Strip is full of countless things to do, see, eat, and experience for every traveler.

Seeing everything along the Strip is much easier if you use the Las Vegas Monorail or one of the city’s free trams. Currently, three Las Vegas trams (in addition to the Las Vegas Monorail) are operating along different parts of the Las Vegas Strip.

Is the Las Vegas Monorail Free?

Three, smaller Las Vegas Trams operate on the West side of Las Vegas Boulevard, one between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, and another tram that runs between Park MGM and the Bellagio Hotel and Casino.

Each tram is free for riders and independently operated by the various hotels and casinos they service.

Mandalay Bay – Excalibur Tram

The Mandalay Bay – Excalibur Tram services three properties on the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip). Each of these hotels is MGM Resorts property and is located just across the street (Tropicana) from the New York-New York Hotel & Casino. Riders can access this free Las Vegas tram at Excalibur, Luxor, and Mandalay Bay.

The cars on this free Vegas tram are clean, air-conditioned, and spacious. The tram cars arrive every four to five minutes. Currently, the Mandalay Bay Tram runs daily from 10 a.m. to midnight, though it’s worth confirming with any of the three hotels for up-to-date schedules and times.

Park MGM – Bellagio Tram

The other popular free tram on the Las Vegas Strip is the tram that runs between the Bellagio and Park MGM. This tram starts at Park MGM, very close to the Aria Entrance, and makes a stop at the Crystals Shopping Mall, before making its final stop at the South Tower of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. Residents staying at the Vdara Hotel can access this tram via a hallway in the hotel lobby.

This free tram on the Strip takes approximately eight minutes to travel from end to end. Each tram car on this free tram is air-conditioned and spacious, and tram cars arrive at each stop every seven to 10 minutes. This free tram, named the ARIA Express Tram, operates daily from 8–2 a.m.

Mirage – Treasure Island Tram

Considered the shortest of the three free trams on the Vegas Strip, the tram between the Mirage and Treasure Island runs between the two properties without making any stops between locations. Total travel time on this tram is under five minutes, with each stop conveniently located close to the entrance of the Casinos at each property. On Sunday – Thursday, the free tram is open from noon to 9 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday, the tram runs from noon to 2 a.m.

Las Vegas Monorail

Running along a 3.9-mile route, the Las Vegas Monorail runs from the North end of the Las Vegas Strip at the SAHARA Las Vegas Monorail station. It ends at the MGM Grand Monorail Station on the South end of the Las Vegas Strip, making monorail stops along the route at other stations.

The Las Vegas Monorail is a safe, entertaining, and easy way to experience and see all of the best sights along the Las Vegas Strip, including bars, famous clubs, entertainment venues, and luxurious spas and resort pools.

Las Vegas Monorail trains arrive at each station in approximately four to eight minutes. Additionally, each station makes announcements about the next arrival time, so you’ll always know how close your train is.
