Time has afforded Craig Conover the benefit of hindsight, and now, he can look back on his relationship and breakup with Paige DeSorbo with some perspective.
The Southern Charm star, 36, appeared on the Tamron Hall Show on Monday, February 17, where he reflected on his recent split.
“I would’ve ended up losing myself [in that relationship] because I would’ve given up everything to stay with her,” he said. “So the blessing is, as we’re a couple months out, I see that now. That’s why your mood changes throughout [a breakup], you have to go through those grieving processes … it’s perspective.”
Conover also touched on the public fallout from the breakup, which included an accusation from DeSorbo, 32, in a new Summer House teaser that he was texting other women while they were together.
Breaking Down Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover's Split: What They've Said
“Any time your character is challenged, especially things that you’re proud of, it’s not great, but that’s the life we live on television,” he said. “Like I said, you can only control yourself. But I won’t date someone unless I can see myself marrying them, because there’s two outcomes if you date — you break up or you get married.”
To Conover, it appeared for a while that DeSorbo could actually be The One. They dated for three years before DeSorbo confirmed their split on a December 2024 episode of her “Giggly Squad” podcast.

“I don’t think you should settle,” Conover continued on Monday. “I don’t think you should date someone unless you don’t want to date anyone else. And when I met Paige, she was my One. I had everything that I wanted in that relationship.”
In addition to the accusation that Conover was texting other women, which he has denied, rumors have also swirled that DeSorbo cheated on him and had already moved on with comedian Marcello Hernandez or another mystery man. Conover pushed back against that rumor — which DeSorbo has also denied — after previously dodging the question in a February 6 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, where he said, “I don’t want to be involved.”
“It really wasn’t ugly or bad and there wasn’t infidelity, at the end of the day, we accomplished so much in three years,” he told Hall.
Conover has been candid about the breakup over the last two months. He first spoke about it via his Instagram Story on January 7, calling the breakup “very unexpected to say the least.”

“I guess I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like,” he noted in a video at the time. “Whatever my new normal looks like — I have to start. Gratitude will get you through this, with time comes clarity’ – all of the advice, I’m trying to listen to.”
“It takes two people to be in a relationship and you can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it,” he continued, reminding fans to “remember to be kind to Paige and me and yourselves and all of that good stuff.”
