Golfer Charley Hull has never been known for making the healthiest decisions on the course — but she revealed her offseason was full of indulgence, too.
Hull, 28, who has become notorious for smoking cigarettes while competing, revealed how a recent trip to Belgium nearly got the best of her.
“The best thing I did in offseason was I went to Bruges and ate loads of chocolate,” Hull told reporters on Wednesday, February 12 before the PIF Saudi Ladies International. “It was really good.”
When asked “how much chocolate” she consumed during her Belgian vacation, Hull said, “Enough to put on a lot of weight. But I ran enough to not put on a lot of weight. But yeah, it was so good.”

Hull posted a carousel of photos of her trip to Bruges via Instagram in December 2024, which included a photo of some strawberries drizzled in chocolate.
Despite her smoking habit, Hull is a dedicated fitness nut. During Wednesday’s press conference, the English golfer explained her “main goal” for 2025 is to “try and get my 5k run time down to 20 minutes.” Hull noted her current time is hovering “around 26 minutes at the moment.”
“I don’t train for golf,” Hull added. “I have zero interest in training for golf. I don’t want to be just a golfer. I want to be an athlete. I train because it’s good for my mental health and it’s good for me.”

Hull further explained her training mindset during a January 2025 post via her Instagram Story, in which she said bluntly, “Golf training is boring.”
“I have no interest in that at all but the training & weights I do help my golf,” Hull wrote. “I love running as a hobby and for my fitness and my mind. The more fitter you are the less jet lag you get and the more stamina you have.”
She added, “I hate being a slob and I love always being on the go living life in the fast lane. Sleep is key though I get [about] 10-11 hours a night of sleep but also I can survive 4-5 hours sleep no problem.”
As for those who question Hull’s penchant for smoking cigarettes when she’s so obsessed with fitness, she wrote, “It’s the only bad thing I do!” Hull explained she got “all my drinking out the way” when she was 18 and 19 years old.

Hull went viral after being pictured with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth at the U.S. Women’s Open in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, back in May 2024.
“It was crazy,” Hull told the Daily Mail in August 2024. “Not really what I was expecting, but I guess it shows that any publicity is good publicity.”
She added, “I’d rather make the headlines for my golf, but hopefully it helped to attract a few new fans to golf!”
As for the origins of her smoking habit, Hull has said, “Everyone in my family smokes.” When it comes to actually smoking on the golf course, Hull told reporters earlier that it “relaxes” her.
