The Codfather Fish and Chips Has Finally Reopened

The Codfather Fish and Chips. | The Codfather Fish and Chips One of the best spots for fish and chips has reopened after its July closing Over the summer, the Codfather restaurant closed, leaving Las Vegas without one of its best destinations for crispy fried fish and baskets of salty golden-brown fries. Three months later, the British chip shop has reopened in a new space just four doors down from its original location. In July, Sheffield-born owner Glynn Bramhal posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page, saying that the Codfather would close in order to relocate, following ongoing challenges with the building’s water, heat, and power. The new Codfather is located at 2895 North Green Valley Parkway F, in the same shopping center as the original chippy, near Sunset Road. Upgrading from the hole-in-the-wall to the larger restaurant space, the Codfather now has expanded booth seating, a lounge-style area with a sofa for waiting on pick-up orders, a wide patio space, and a bar with high-top seating that is still awaiting its liquor license. It all sets the scene for British-style fish and chips. Flaky cod is coated in crispy golden batter that is both light and rich. Fries are hot and pillowy — just right for dunking into pleasantly tangy tartar sauce. Dress it all up with lemon wedges and pours of malt vinegar. The menu also offers battered and fried haddock, catfish, and vegan protein, and sides of clam chowder, Sheffield fish cake, and mushy pea fritters. Current posted hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Speaking of Henderson... Downtown Las Vegas’s Good Pie is now open in Henderson, too. Chef Vincent Rotolo is serving his grandma-style pizzas like a white pie with pecorino and ricotta flowers, Detroit-style squares with crispy and caramelized crusts, round Brooklyn-style, and Sicilian-style pizzas at the new pizzeria at 835 Seven Hills Drive near Saint Rose Parkway. The Yard House bar and restaurant has expanded to a new location in Henderson. The Yard House in the Sunset Station Casino at 1301 West Sunset Road will open on Sunday, October 27 with 90 beers on tap and a glass-enclosed keg room. The menu of more than 100 items includes favorites from the Town Square Yard House like poke nachos, Nashville hot chicken, street tacos, and burgers. North Italia is expanding with a new restaurant opening at the District at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson on November 13. When it opens, it will serve seasonal dishes like braised short rib marsala with mushrooms and Brussels sprouts; and a pumpkin praline butter cake with toasted marshmallow and pumpkin seed praline. Mark Wahlberg Opens a New Las Vegas Restaurant (Again) Mark Wahlberg is opening a Las Vegas location of his Mexican restaurant, Flecha, in Town Square on Las Vegas Boulevard. Occupying more than 10,000 square feet, the upscale restaurant based in Huntington Beach serves a selection of ceviche, seafood enchiladas, and carne asada tacos. Flecha also hosts a brunch buffet every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with endless servings of carnitas, chorizo and eggs, eggs Benedict, waffles, seafood, and dessert. It's the latest in the Mark Wahlberg Las Vegas portfolio — which includes his Wahlburgers restaurant and the nearly $2 billion movie studio he’s working on.
