On the heels of the fan-run contest to find doppelgangers of Timothée Chalamet, other celebrities are getting in on imitation competitions. This one was hosted by the HexClad cookware brand that Ramsay partners with — so not exactly the grassroots gathering that was the Chalamet spectacle. The contest, held on Saturday, November 23, was advertised with flyers pasted along the Las Vegas Strip and Ramsay arrived (predictably) just in time to greet the three finalists and award a signed pan to the Canadian winner. Tokyo-Style Bar Opens With a Neon Glow The Venetian Resort opened a new bar next to Wakuda, named after the neon-lit Golden Gai bar district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. The beverage director of the 50 Eggs Hospitality Group, Luis Lopez, helms the cocktail menu, which features combinations of Fuji apples and premium Japanese whisky — plus a robust sake selection. Beneath the glow of pink and purple neon lighting, the Golden Gai bar serves hand rolls, katsu, and wagyu sliders. The bar is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday and Monday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Golden Gai. Gyu Plus Gets a Late-Night Glow-Up The Japanese sando restaurant, Gyu Plus, has come a long way since its days tucked away inside the kitchen of Molly’s Tavern at 9821 S. Eastern Avenue near Silverado Ranch Boulevard. In September, it opened a standalone location in Chinatown at 3516 Wynn Road with limited hours. And now, the restaurant that loads thick and fluffy shokupan slices with beef filet and onion jam or with Jidori egg salad has not only expanded its hours to include Sunday, it has opened a new late-night bar called the Social Lounge. The tucked-away room inside the restaurant serves small plates of udon carbonara, oysters, and sandos with wagyu, plus Japanese beer. Cronuts Hit the Paris Las Vegas Dominique Ansel, the inventor of the doughnut-croissant hybrid, will be back in Las Vegas next week to open another location of his eponymous bakery.
