The Donut Hole by Carl’s Donuts opened a downtown location earlier this year. On Monday, August 19, it posted on Instagram that it was closing. The family-owned Carl’s Donuts (3170 Sunset Road Suite F) has been frying and glazing no-frills maple-coated bars, sugary twists, and iced crullers in Las Vegas since the 1960s near Sunset Road and Eastern Avenue. The shop’s doughnuts are reliably fluffy, sweet, and fresh — good enough to make them an iconic food in Las Vegas. The Donut Hole by Carl’s Donuts The Donut Hole by Carl’s Donuts. Carl’s Donuts opened the Donut Hole (124 South 6th Street) near Fremont Street in February of this year, taking over the space of the former San Diego-based Donut Bar, which had served over-the-top doughnuts for seven years. The Donut Hole redecorated with bold accents of black, red, and white and neon signage. And its menu featured the classics, plus new entries — like chocolate sprinkle cakes, brûléed cinnamon rolls, iced doughnut holes, croissants, and yuzu passion fruit “croughie” hybrids. While the shop was closed two days a week, it extended its summer hours to late-night, serving doughnuts until 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. A spokesperson confirmed that the shop has closed, effective immediately. The original Carl’s Donuts remains open for all your doughnut needs.
