A Stylish Mexican Restaurant Closes After One Year
La Popular. | STUDIO 1208 The restaurant space at the Palms is once again empty Last summer, an upscale Mexican restaurant with an agave-centric cocktail menu moved into a long-empty restaurant space on the casino floor of the Palms Casino Resort. Just over one year later, La Popular CDMX has closed, leaving the poolside space vacant once again. In June 2023, La Popular took over the space that had previously belonged to Bobby Flay’s Shark. The stylish space with a central bar, ample foliage, moody lighting, and earthy floors and walls had remained empty for three years before opening as La Popular. The Mexican restaurant has locations in Texas and California but introduced a few signature dishes just for Las Vegas including quesabirria tacos with braised brisket and beef shank and al pastor enchiladas with melted cheese. An all-day breakfast menu offered platters of breakfast tacos with carnitas, guacamole, and housemade corn tortillas. And more than 80 labels of tequila and mezcal went into cocktails poured into stylish glassware. The Oaxacan Jellyfish with rum, pineapple, lime, blue lemongrass, and coconut cream came served with a smoke bubble. La Popular closed on August 31. A spokesperson from the Palms told Eater Vegas “We are grateful to the Eureka Restaurant Group for their partnership and the dining experience they provided our guests.” See more Las Vegas restaurant closings here.
