The Guys Behind Sorry Not Sorry Ice Cream Are Opening a Smash Burger Restaurant
A smash burger from With Love, Always. | With Love, Always With Love, Always serves dripping smash burgers down the street from the fan-favorite ice cream shop At 9 p.m. on a Wednesday night, Sorry Not Sorry has a line out the door for scoops of campfire s’mores and cookie butter ice cream. Now, the creamery’s owners are getting in on the burger business, opening a new restaurant one mile away with seared double-patty burgers dripping with sauce. The new restaurant is called With Love, Always. And it will host a grand opening on Saturday, October 26, at 6441 North Durango Drive Suite 140, near the intersection with Centennial Parkway. Burgers start with fresh Black Angus patties seared on a hot griddle until they develop a lacy crust. They come loaded with toppings like American cheese and super thinly sliced onions on a potato roll. With Love, Always. Burgers from With Love, Always. With Love, Always. Cherry-dipped soft serve. In 2021, Sorry Not Sorry founders Drew Belcher and Kevin Whelan started a smash burger pop-up with friend Damian Ocampo in the parking lot of the Truffles and Bacon restaurant. The pandemic-era pop-up sold hundreds of burgers between the three parking lot pop-ups. “I’m not a chef,” says Belcher, the owner of the @unlokt food-focused Instagram account. Between @unlokt and Ocampo’s @hookedlv account, the partners have a combined 1.3 million followers — an ample head start for publicizing the fledgling burger business. “We saw that smash burgers were taking off and there wasn’t a great option for them in Vegas,” says Belcher. So he started grilling them up at home, drafting a version to test at the pop-ups. It’s the same philosophy that led Belcher to launch Sorry Not Sorry in March 2022 on West Flamingo Road. “I saw a need for a premium ice cream like other cities have Jeni’s or Van Leeuwen,” says Belcher. The Sorry Not Sorry ice cream empire now has five locations serving flavors like bumbleberry cheesecake crumble and ube honeycomb. Keeping With Love distinct from the ice cream shops, the burger restaurant offers soft-serve custard, dipped the old-school way in cherry and birthday cake-flavored coatings. When the beer and wine license comes through later this year, the expansive yard will be enclosed to set the stage for live music and games of cornhole. With an eye on Instagram food trends, Belcher says he already has ideas for what restaurants he may work on next. With Love, Always is located at 6441 North Durango Drive Suite 140; open 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.
