We reached out to Vegas’s finest food writers, reporters, and bloggers to get their takes on local trends, recent standouts, and notable newcomers. Here, they weigh in on the openings they were most excited for in 2024. I also want to mention a couple late-2023 openings: LPM at the Cosmopolitan and Kyu, which is my favorite overall restaurant at Fontainebleau. I think if some neighborhood hole-in-the-wall was making the same dishes, people would be raving about it as the cool new thing in town. The speakeasy behind Craft Creamery has surprisingly good food to match its stellar cocktail program.— Rob Kachelriess, Hey Las Vegas Editor at City Cast Las Vegas I had high hopes for José Andrés’ Bazaar Mar restaurant at Crystals. And while the restaurant is excellent, it's the adjacent Bar Centro that I’ve found myself revisiting this year — both for evening drinks and plates of tuna sashimi wrapped in pillows of crispy bread and for midmorning lattes and laminated spiral ensaïmada pastries with strawberries and cream. Diner Ross from Spiegelworld was an exciting standout with a fun approach to theme and stunningly good food. And Bramàre is an exciting new Italian restaurant in which, on more than one occasion, I have enjoyed midnight bowls of tagliatelle and broccolini. — Janna Karel, Editor at Eater Vegas This year, I was most excited about all the new restaurants that opened at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.— Emmy Kasten, freelance writer for Eater, the Infatuation, and more Wineaux, love a local wine bar and we have far too few of them for the amount of wine talent we have in this city. Both the pop-ups that Wynn did — Safta 1964 with Alon Shaya — one of the nicest and most talented chefs around and the Four Sixes Ranch Steakhouse with Taylor Sheridan, a refreshing departure from the celebrity chef formula; Good Pie’s new location in Henderson.— Melinda Sheckells, editor of the Town Magazine and writer for Hollywood Reporter and more Mae Daly’s Fine Steaks & Whiskeys — the decor is beautiful and is designed to look like what you would’ve seen several decades ago. A true dinner show is the Frey Ranch eight-ounce filet mignon au poivre, which is finished before your eyes at Mae Daly’s at the Chef’s Stage with an au poivre sauce made from Frey Ranch’s un-cut whiskey that is set afire and flambéed. Sgrizzi by Chef Marc — it’s great to see chef Marc Sgrizzi once again wowing us with his mastery of Italian cuisine. Chef brings over four decades of culinary expertise and over the past two-plus decades has helmed such exemplary eateries as Marc’s Italian Steakhouse and Chef Marc’s Trattoria and was one of the first accomplished chefs to bring quality dining off of the Strip.— Bob Barnes, freelance writer for Vegas Prime Magazine, Eater Vegas, Gayot, and more
