Nevada March Unemployment Rate at 5.5%, Unchanged from Previous Month
Las Vegas employment increased by 4,100 jobs (0.4%) since February.

According to the March 2023 report by Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Nevada was 5.5%, unchanged from previous month. The unadjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly, going from 5.7% to 5.4%.
Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):
- Las Vegas employment increased by 4,100 jobs (0.4%) since February, an increase of 58,100 jobs (5.5%) since March 2022.
- Reno employment had a decrease of 300 jobs (-0.1%) since February, an increase of 10,800 jobs (4.2%) since March 2022.
- Carson City employment had an increase of 300 jobs (0.9%) since February, an increase of 1,600 jobs (5.3%) since March 2022.
“This month's report continues to reflect relatively rapid gains in employment and stable unemployment. Healthcare and leisure industries saw the largest gains, while construction saw the largest decline over the month.” said David Schmidt, Chief Economist.
According to the report, leisure and hospitality is above 99% recovered to its pre-pandemic peak. Other industries such as information has recovered to about 117% of its peak.
